What’s in a name?

For us, it means a lot. Red’s Place is named after BJ’s paternal grandfather who passed away in October 2012. His nickname was Red (for his red hair) aka Gramps. You couldn’t go anywhere in Troy, NY without someone who didn’t know Red. He was the kindest, most gentle man who golfed up into his 90’s (mind you, without a cart!) and you could find him cheering on his alma mater, RPI’s men hockey team where he was a proud former player.

Red’s is the kind of place Gramps always brought us to… no white table clothes, no rushing you out the door after you finish your meal but, a place that you can relax, have a great meal and an extra after dinner drink without feeling pressure to leave. Red would make you feel right at home, wherever you would be and that is what we want for you at Red’s Place. Come into Red’s as a guest and leave as a friend.
